Study Abroad with CEA in Berlin, Germany

Humboldt Universität zu Berlin

This program is designed for students at a high beginner language level and above looking to refine and cultivate their language skills, while taking an in-depth look at German culture. In daily language courses, you'll study German language, focusing on listening comprehension, conversation, and grammar. Choose from electives in subject areas such as Berlin history, society, and culture, or German literature, theater, art, or film. Visit the city's historical sites such as the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, and Potzdamer Platz. In addition to time in the classroom, this program features site visits with local German students -- a great way for you to practice your language skills and make new friends.

Experience Berlin

Many of Berlin's theaters, cinemas, museums, and galleries, including the five museums on the Berlin Museumsinsel (Museum Island), are a short walk from the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin campus. Explore Berlin by bike with your CEA classmates and check out the flea markets and Berlin Beer Festival. Walk through Berlin's history as you tour the Holocaust Museum, the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, and the Heritage Site of Potsdam, where Truman, Churchill, and Stalin met at the close of World War II.

Berlin has borne witness to some of the 20th century's most significant political and historical events, from the rise of Nazism and the Berlin Wall, to the Cold War and the eventual reunification of East and West Germany in 1990. Today, the city acts as an influential center in European politics, culture, and science. It also serves as an important hub of continental transportation and is home to a wide range of life-science corporations and research institutes.
